How to Perform The Correct Braking Car
Braking skill is a skill that must be practiced. With so many cars are equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS), people just put the brakes on in any situation. This could be a good choice, but not always the best. Braking (even with ABS) can lead to reduced control of the vehicle handling capability and you are really in a situation that is more dangerous. It's better to learn how to put the brakes properly if you want maximum security and control of your vehicle.
1. Avoid braking and turn the steering
wheel at the same time. Deflecting wheel while braking can cause the vehicle
does not turn as well or not slowed down too much. Race car driver, who has
always raced with their vehicles, has studied the skills needed to separate
braking and turn the steering wheel at the same time. At the bend at an angle
of 90%, the drivers use their brakes before you get to the corner, turned, and
then re-use the gas pedal. Each part of the curve (straight before and after
the bend) has its own purpose and the separation of brake and steering
deflection provide the best traction for the vehicle to make the desired angle.
However, it is possible to brake and turn in simultaneously, in one of the
following cases:
Brakes-Turn: Turn the wheel to bend while
it stepped on the brakes lightly. This will cause the car to lead to the next,
pressing the front tire to the ground, giving more grip the steering wheel.
These basic techniques, and no corners that must pass without this action.
Emergency Dismissal: If you need to stop
quickly, you do not need to be afraid to use the brakes, even in the middle of
the corner: With ABS, press the pedal all the way down. Without ABS, press the
brake rather hard (70%) and steered the little wheel.
2 Use the brakes smoothly: Press your
brake pedal quickly, but not directly. It is important to maximize the
potential of your vehicle braking. The goal is to bring the vehicle tires to
break traction only. It is important, to avoid brake "working hard"
on top of the brake. The reason for this is that at the beginning of braking
procedure, when the speed of the car is very fast, the pressure is really
needed is not more, not less, appropriate brake pressure, will make the vehicle
slow down effectively, as the inertia effect of larger cars. The key is to
apply the brakes fast and deep, while applying pressure by using a footrest
left leg to stabilize the body. When the pace car was rubbing against the
brake, you can relieve the pressure and gentle progressive brake to keep the
vehicle at the point of maximum efficiency.
This model refers to the braking control.
However, in a real emergency, panic the driver and operate the brakes too
lightly. Always better for braking more than too little. In an emergency, it is
best to just step on the brake pedal and let the car stop.
3. Practice to stop in the parking lot
empty. Start by deliberately applying the brakes with the technique (slip),
then you will reduce the braking force until you feel has the best braking
technique. Good for pontesi your maximum braking. Open the windows of your car
and start at one end of the parking lot. Accelerate the car to a safe speed (40-60
Km / h) and press your brakes as hard as you can. You should hear pretty much
the sound of tires squealing. If you do not hear it, you may have to check the
ABS, or (which is not yet technologically ABS) brakes you may need to be
repaired. Continue to apply this by repeatedly until you are able to apply your
brakes, while the concentration of small voices heard squealing tires you (this
is called the optimum point squeeze - OSP).
You can calculate this by setting markers
when starting the car braking and when you stop, and you can visually see the
difference between your tires and the brakes are working properly or not.
Extra practice: Accidentally lock your
brakes. Now the practice of reducing the pressure on the pedal until it stops
to lock, then apply pressure again to OSP again). Inevitably, you will go to
the OSP your way, or you will change the surface during braking, that's why
this practice is very important.
Note: each surface and speed will have a
different OSPs. This is why you have to practice when road conditions were dry,
raining or the road conditions, then when the snow (if available). Position
yourself enough to suit different levels of traction so that no one will
surprise you.
4. Use the brake, ABS: in almost all
cases, you smoothly by pressing the brake pedal (although fast) on the road
surface. You may feel good pedal vibrate (depending on conditions ABS) or feel
like your car gives total braking (ABS independent). Whatever it is, this is a
sign of work ABS - do not panic and do not take your foot off the brake pedal!
Of course, if the pedal feels like it gives a burst effect, and you do not
stop, your brakes may provide a burst, in which case you should try to shift
into neutral (N) in the vehicle automatic transmission or a lower gear, than
when you are in transmission manual vehicle
5. Avoid using your transmission for a
quick stop. The transmission is designed to accelerate the vehicle not to slow
it down. Design of the points the load on transmission gears are not designed
for this. It was not a component of the braking system. If you operate a
tractor trailer, it is a different story. They are equipped with air brakes and
brake machines for reasons that are not relevant to the car. However, it is
good practice to use engine braking (lower than the transmission gear usually)
to maintain or reduce the current speed on the long lane that runs down the
hill. The heat generated by the engine is absorbed and removed by an efficient
cooling, radiators, and fans, which prevents the brakes from overheating so
that the transmission will be most effective when it is necessary for maximum
braking results.
